Setting Up A Baby Shower Registry
November 3, 2009 | Leave a Comment
A baby shower is a special day, for the mother, the baby, and the guests. You may have not done so yet, but the first thing you should set out to do is work up a baby shower registry. Your guests will be able to choose the right gifts, and you will get things that you need guaranteed. Large retailers will usually let you set up your registry easily, and it is important to choose a retailer that all of your guests can get to easily.
Some women may set up registries at more than one store. If you decide to do this, be careful that you do not one item on two lists. It can be a big waste of time for you and the woman who gives the gift to you if you have to take it back. A good reason to do this would be in case one store runs out of a particular item, your registry at another store will still show it.
One thing you want to avoid is having multiple guests to your shower bringing the same present. The way a baby shower registry works is that when someone buys something from your registry then it is removed from the list. But when you set up a registry with more than one store it could also add confusion and problems later on.
Another way to sign up for your registry is online. Doing this may help your husband look over items with you and help decide which ones would be best for your upcoming baby. Men are far more likely to be cooperative about shopping online than they are about looking around in stores. Shopping online gives you the freedom to to whenever and wherever you are, and lets you look through many stores at one time. You can check availability of these items online without going to the store, and some of these online stores will notify you if they do run out of stock.
Not all of your guests will it get items directly from your registry, and you will have to accept that perhaps they don’t have that store nearby. However, the registry system does eliminate this problem in many cases. Very few people don’t have internet access, but you may run into someone who perhaps doesn’t choose to do business online with a credit card. In any event, your registry will give all of your guests some insight into your tastes and perhaps the brands that you looking for. It’s a good way to let people know what items you need and those that you don’t need.
There are several different methods to inform your guests, family, and friends of your registry details. You can send out a registry notification, which gives everyone a list of registry items along with their invitation. They can then take the lists to the store you chose and pick up the items and mark them off in the registry. Another method if you’ve registered online is to include the emails of your guests and they will receive e-mails straight from the store.
Choosing to set up a registry is not a snobby thing to do, nor does it tell your guests that you’re only looking for a certain model stroller or car seat, and that theirs is not good enough. What it does give them is a general idea of what you would like to receive, and its intentions are to make choosing a useful gift easier for them. Setting up a baby shower registry is not only easy in a physical store, but is even easier when you do it online.
If you are a soon-to-be mother and the baby shower is coming up, it’s about time you have created your baby shower registry so no one is left in the dark with gifts.
