The first time you start tying the notes on the page to your fingers on the keys, you need to think very hard about where you put them. This is something that is going to be very tedious and even frustrating, but it is quite important. You are going to be surprised at how very little time it takes until simply seeing a series of notes can prompt you put your fingers down correctly.
Bad habits are tough ones to break so start by putting your fingers down in the right places. It will be slow at first, but remember that it is something that is going come faster.
When you want to make sure that you are getting the most out of your beginner piano lessons, make sure that you have a quiet place to work and some time set aside for it. It can be easy to tell yourself that you will practice “often,” but unless you sit down and make a habit of it, you will find that you are going to see that start to slide! Instead, make sure that you sit down and decide when you are going to practice. It might be first thing in the morning or it might be late at night; all that matters is that you sit down and do it. Whether you practice for an hour or just twenty minutes, regular practice is essential.
