Looking For a Bargain TV
October 10, 2009 | Leave a Comment
Locating the cheapest TV isn’t always easy. It can take some time to nail down the one you want to buy. Checking with online retailers can be fruitful, but it can also be risky business. You need to watch out for hidden costs and fees, like maybe they’ve included an excessively high shipping and handling cost. It pays to check every detail of the transaction before committing.
It could be that a few hundred dollars have been added just for a TV stand. One that you neither want or need. Negotiating is always part of getting a good deal. If you have to take something exactly as it’s been packaged, it can sometimes be a good idea just to pass it by. You want to get the deal that suits you, not the seller.
You’ll find that most of your retailers for plasma TVs have dealers that they have ‘authorized’ to sell their TVs. When shopping online you can run into retailers who aren’t ‘authorized’. These retailers many times will offer better prices to entice people to deal with them. And if you do, and there are any problems with your set, you’ll probably find that you have no-one to honor the warranty and fix your problem.
It’s also a risky business to try and purchase a TV at an online auction. There are many horror stories where people have sent their money only to never receive any merchandise. And you have practically no recourse in this matter. It’s nearly impossible to get any satisfaction concerning scams like this.
Getting a cheap TV can sometimes be a simple as settling for the older models. Many of the old CRTs still get great pictures, and there are people everywhere practically throwing them out, and replacing them with the new Plasma and LCD TVs. So these can be great opportunities for getting a cheap TV that will still give great service, and for an excellent price.
If you can roll with an old one that’s being replaced, you’re going to open up a whole new market of cheap TVs for yourself. Just decide what your budget is, understand your viewing style, and be aware of your available viewing space. It’s not enough to get a cheap TV, but it has to be one that fits your viewing room. Buying one that’s hard to watch isn’t really a deal.
Many people don’t think about it, but Sam’s Club can sometimes have a TV or two for sale. They’re refurbished, but the prices get slashed heavily, and Sam’s Club will stand by them. That gives you an added confidence in buying it. You can buy a warranty and Sam’s will honor it. This is one really good way to purchase a cheap TV.
Buying the cheapest TV isn’t always easy but it’s not beyond your reach either. Buying at the original price isn’t necessary when there are retailers who are cutting the prices. And with so many new models coming out each year, it doesn’t take long for some TVs to be considered ‘old’ and the price to go down. So with a little research and some looking around, you should be able to find a cheap TV that will give you good service over the next few years.
