There are an infinite number of self improvement exercises you can do. And there isn’t one task that works best for everyone. As a Personal Life Coach I’ve come up with dozens of exercises for my clients, most of which come to me while I’m coaching someone. It all depends on the situation and the awareness the client needs to get in order to move forward.

And while there is no one- size-fits-all self improvement exercize, there are a few I assign again and again because they’ll do the trick every time.

As with an self improvement exercise, the goal is to keep on the positive side of life. Make sure your process is centered in goodness and keeps your best interests at heart.

Acknowledge yourself. Too often I hear my clients downplay their achievements, mostly because they have expectations of what success is supposed to be and if they are not reaching those (usually impossible) goals, then there is nothing to celebrate. I am here to tell you that if you cannot celebrate the small milestones, you will never be able to really celebrate the big ones. Acknowlege yourself DAILY for the risks you’ve taken, for the scary things you’ve done, or for whatever you are proud of having done that day. Write down at least 5 things every day.

Express appreciation or gratitude. Life is neither good nor bad. It is what you make it out to be. What do you want your life to be about? Feeling bad or feeling good? I am a firm believer that feeling good brings more good feelings and feeling bad brings more bad feelings. It’s a choice. Write down 5 things you are grateful for on a daily basis. The challenge with this exercises is this: you must think about the most challenging parts of your day, the things or situations you complained about the most and find the gift in them. Anyone can be grateful for a sunny day. But can you be grateful for that sunny day when it was the only positive thing about the car wreck you had? Thank goodness it wasn’t raining when you had a fender-bender.

With gratitudes and acknowledgements, doing them daily helps to grow your ocean of positivity and confidence. Every time you acknowledge yourself, every time you find the positivity in a situation is a drop in the bucket. Eventually all of those drops become a wonderful positive energy system that you need in order to feel good and to love yourself.

Find your true motivation. When you have a goal or desire in mind, ask yourself: “If I had this, what would I have?” And then ask yourself again: “If I had that, then what would I have?” Repeat this until you have gotten to the true desire. That desire becomes your intention you can return to again and again to keep you committed.

These easy and effective self improvement exercises will help you grow by leaps and bounds!
